Avis Car Rental
What people are saying
Worst customer service from Jackie I think I’ve ever had in my life I walked in to pick up my rental that I had reserved at 9am for a 4pm pick up as soon as I got up to the counter Jackie became upset and told me I must of just booked it because she dident have the compact car I booked available I repeatedly told her and showed her my confirmation email from earlier that morning that no made my reservation earlier, then she says well we don’t have that car and I said I rent from Avis in Fairfield all the time if they don’t have a vehicle they just upgrade me to something else then Jackie goes Well why dident you go to Fairfield ….like lady because I’m here she dident want to rent me any car for whatever reason she had she just continued to be rude told me I couldent rent with my debit card when I have used my debit card before I finally just left before she took me out of my character she’s old and rude and I can’t wait to call corporate Monday morning :)
I wish I could give 0 stars. I’m a valley local, and I have a friend visiting from Spain who rented a car for a side trip to see the state. The old, possibly racist, geezer who was working the desk would not give him the car because he had never seen an international drivers license. Nor was he familiar with using a phone to process the credit card charge. He reacted, in my opinion, to my friend’s accent and asked him for a social security card. 🤨. Side note, my friend has one since he’s here working as a wine industry intern. I went in to try to reason with the guy and felt like I was in a scene from Deliverance. Good help is hard to find, I know, but you can at least educate your staff on modern day documents, and their international clientele in this very popular tourist destination for Europeans. Sheesh.
I wish I could give 0 stars. I recently rented a car for my trip to California. When I arrived, my family (including two toddlers) was given a car that was unsafe to drive (we were lucky the front tire didn't blow which could have caused a severe accident), but we didn't realize this until we reached our destination. The car NEVER should have been on the lot and I am still so unbelievably upset that my family was put in such danger. It took over 25 hours from the time I first contacted roadside assistance to get a working car that fit my family's needs. I spoke to at least 20 people, many of which did not know how to help me. The first replacement car I was given had only one working window with one stuck halfway down, meaning I did not feel safe leaving it anywhere, rendering it unusable. The second replacement was a car that was much too small to fit my family and our belongings. Yet because I sent the tow truck driver back with it knowing it was not acceptable, that created an issue with my rental agreement showing I was driving a car I never received. As a result I had to visit a rental counter (I was told I would have to go all the way back to SFO, but luckily was able to fix it in Napa). The woman (Jackie) who helped me at first insisted over the phone that she did not know how to fix the issue and I would need to contact AVIS to figure it out. When I went in person, she was the most condescending and antagonistic person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I admit that I was not the nicest on the phone as I had been dealing with the issue for a full 24 hours and was so beyond frustrated by the experience and the way I was being run around AVIS and getting absolutely nowhere. However, I was ready to calmly work with her when she made many comments about me being rude to her that were completely uncalled for. When I frustratedly put a piece of paper down that fell down onto the counter, she thought I threw it and threw it back in my face. When I set it down again, her lackey who said 0 actually helpful words to us threw it at me again. They then continued to talk about us in whispers while were standing right in front of them. When I told her that I had been through hell trying to get a new rental and was now being told I couldn't because of AVIS' mistake and that she needed to fix it, she condescendingly asked me "was that a please?" After everything I had been through, I had no more patience especially not for someone who was treating me like a petulant child. I had a pleasant experience with AVIS our first rental but after this I will NEVER rent with AVIS again. I spent the first day and part of the second of my vacation dealing with this issue instead of spending time with my family (including my toddler who was sick with an ear infection). AVIS ruined the first days of my vacation, and I will never forgive the danger my family was put in or the time I was forced to spend recitfying AVIS' mistakes.
I had great service, and Jackie was very helpful. I carelessly left my wallet in the glove box and left. I called, and she immediately ran to it, found it, and called me right away. Can't do better than that Avis outlet.
Jackie, has no idea what a significant impact she had on my life last Sat, 8/14. I had promised my daughter and her friends at Chico State, that I'd be there to cook for them. Then I had to put my own car in the shop. They could not return it in time. Obviously, my daughter thought she would be let down. Not a great feeling as an only parent. I could not find a car on the quick anywhere. Not to mention no one answers the phone live, or they do not on the weekends at least. Having never rented a car before this was a new encounter. Finally called AVIS Napa, Jackie answered the phone live! No, no cars yet try back around 1:00pm she said enthusiastically. There was at least the smallest glimmer of hope at that moment. I, called back 1:00 on the dot. Jackie, being friendly says no, none yet. She was waiting for returns. Then, just then she said here comes one! How soon can you get her she asks. I'll be there in 10-15 min. She made the process easy breeze, was engaging. I told her my plight, she acted like she really cared. She even offered me fresh veggies & fruit to take to Chico w/ me. She not only saved me from becoming a deadbeat mom, she also helped me feed 8 hungry college students. Could not have asked for more. I am actually tearing up writing this, that is just how much Jackie's kindness meant to me. Thank you, Jackie!!! I'll sing your praises far & wide already in action! With heartfelt appreciation, Michele
