Recently I was browsing the internet and came across an article about the best BBQ restaurants in the US. This restaurant was on the list. Well, I figured why not give it a try. So we headed out on a 5 hour trip for bbq. It’s right off the highway so that’s convenient. It was not very busy. We sat down right away. Some bbq spots will have a combo where you can choose a few different meats to try. That was not the case here. We decided on a 1/4 pound of a few different meats. They included smoked turkey, pulled chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. We added a sausage not realizing that the sausage we got in the appetizer was the same. The sides were green beans and mac and cheese. We wanted to try the greens but they were out. The mac and cheese was very good. We did start with two apps. Fried pickle chips. They were tiny little things. Hard to dip but had good flavor. The other app was a hot link and pimento cheese. The pimento cheese was the best bite of the meal for me. Great bbq can stand alone without sauce. The sauce just compliments it. Good bbq is dependent on the sauce. This was good bbq. Worth a 5 hour trip? Not so much, but we do enjoy traveling. ✌🏽

I never give 5 starts, however this place deserves it. The waitress was nicely soften spoken, attentive and very helpful. I was skeptical of the serving size as 5 oz. didn't sound like much, but it was a great amount of food on the sandwiches. And I always wonder about the smoke flavor. But this place came thru with flying colors. No Roaster cooked meat here. I had brisket and husband had the pork. The fresh pork rinds were awesome! We will be coming back as we travel thru southern IL again..

This is a great locally owned place to eat. The service is usually good. It does take a while to get your food sometimes, but it’s usually worth the wait. I’ve had a lot of different items from here to eat. Never had anything bad.

As good as it gets folks. No need to go to KC for BBQ. The sandwiches we had were piled high and the choice of 3 sauces were impeccable with flavor. The brisket sandwich my wife ordered had ZERO fat. The fresh pork rinds and dipping sauce made a delicious appetizer. Our server was very polite and soft spoken which was nice. Nobody wants a chatty or loud server.

Service from the time we walked in until the time we left was outstanding. The fried pickles were huge and delicious. My wife had the 1/2 chicken with collard greens and green beans and was very happy. I had the pork shoulder, smoked turkey, beef sausage, and mac & cheese and they were all outstanding. All of the sauces were great too. Will definitely have to try the ribs and banana pudding next time we're in Marion
