The station has screens that tell you what time the bus is leaving, but they are not always accurate. In the two months I have been unable to drive, I have waited at bus stops anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour after the scheduled arrival time and had at least one bus PER WEEK not show up at all. I have downloaded the app to track real time arrivals and it does not warn you if they don't run a bus. This complete and total lack of communication has resulted in missing other connections and in some cases extending my trip time from 20 minutes to 2 hours. I understand this is a county problem, but beware the public transit system is extremely unreliable.

The RTC buses are routed from here. I have a car, so I have been fortunate to not have to use the bus system in years. I worked right next to the 4th Street Station for years. Can be dangerous at night.

Bus drivers will pass you especially on route 12 after 5pm. The drivers are rude as it gets. I felt bad because of how the homeless and addicts treat them. But they deserve it. I have never met a more miserable set of coworkers. I dont think they realize not everyone on the bus is a bum. Some of us just want to go to work and it would help if they didnt have to be so callous and rude because those are the people paying taxes so you can sit a drive a bus all day. If you hate your job so much quit. Im fed up and Im putting a complaint into the city. Honestly the best part about this bus system is watching karma pay miserable people back in the form of the absolute bottom of the barrel people spitting, calling you slurs, and throwing stuff. Hope I see one of you on the following days lunch time news because you aren’t important enough to even make it to the afternoon headline. Whoever was driving 12 today just know you deserve whatever you are going through. Its wild you can have an hour trip ahead of and it turns into two because the driver of 12 is petty. Remember you are not always gonna be behind that wheel and its a big world so check yourself before well you know.

There’s always a lot going on. Drivers very friendly in directing you to the next bus especially if you already know the number bus you are looking for. I didn’t find it as easy to use the app, but looking it up in google maps by bus transportation worked really nicely and would update in real time to the newest quickest route w/estimated arrival times. Even had a driver check in with me that a particular patron of the bus wasn’t bothering me in any sorts.

I'm not really good on my cell phone or rating things. I don't even know how to look it up mostly. It just pops up on my notices rate things. I haven't taken the bus in a while but my car broke down. The bus driver were abnormally rude. The stop before the one I get off on I heard the bus driver telling the person boarding you can't get on here with that. I looked to see what she was referring to. I recognized two friends of mine, who are special needs, they were coming from the senior center. The person that she was referring to was one of those people with a walker type thingy. It has a shelf on it which she puts groceries and stuff on. But it's still a type of Walker. It really upset me. I went to the front of the bus immediately. I called out to my friend "I will help you". Because the bus driver said she wasn't going to let her on the bus. I was going to have none of it! I ignored the bus driver. I helped my friend get a walker onto the bus and there was a very big space in the front of the bus where she could put it. I don't know what the heck is wrong with this bus driver. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out there are special needs. You can look right at them and tell. I helped my friend to get her walker on the bus and my other friend with his bags. I didn't say anything to the bus driver. I think she realized that I wasn't going to have any of it. She was going to leave them there at the bus stop because she felt like my friends Walker was too big. Normally I mind my own business but I think the fury inside me was apparent even though I didn't voice it. I guess somehow my countenance silenced the bus driver. I had no intentions of that. There just was no way she was going to leave my friends who really need that bus service and have so many more challenges than anyone else at the bus stop. It was a stop at West hills. They were coming out of the senior center. That's a very scary bus stop when it becomes dark. I felt righteous indignation. I really didn't think about it even. I just knew there was no way she was going to leave them there. So I got them on to the bus and got them seated. Because I could tell my one friend was about to cry. I changed it up and begin to talk to take their minds off of it. But what am I some kind of psychologist?! It makes me mad that I had to even do that in the first place. Completely unacceptable. Where is the common sense gene in that bus driver to talk to them and frighten them in her scary adult to child language. Do better RTC. You are funded by grants. No one should talk to an adult of any sort with adult to child language. Unacceptable. No one in society should bully people with special needs. I'm not glad that my car broke down. But I'm glad that it resulted in me being present when this happened and mediating for the more vulnerable people of society. I held my temper and my mouth but I was infuriated inside. People that don't have a car, they're going to have to bring baskets on the bus that have groceries. People with a walker are going to have to mount the bus. There was hardly anyone on the bus. It's not like the bus was packed and there was no room because there was plenty of room. How do they think that people are going to get on the bus with a walker or with their groceries etcetera. Ridiculous. If the bus driver can't handle it maybe she should quit. That was the third bus on my transfers and I actually saw three different things that happened on three different buses and in every situation the bus drivers were oblivious to who takes the bus and why. It's not an easy life having to take a bus everywhere. They should be gracious and compassionate or find a different job. IMHO.
