I think the ticket office closes for the day, once the trains have all left, but there's a trailer- looking thing, with an "amtrak waiting" sign in front, that had a bathroom as well as an inside waiting room (pics). Nothing fancy, but it'd get the job done.

I was booked JC to KC to Trinadad CO. As I was leaving my house Amtrak called to tell me my first leg of my trip was cancelled. So we paid 86$ to drive to KC to meet my connection. Where....that train sat and waited for the train I was told had been canceled to show up 3 hours late. 🤬 Coming back. I was called that the train was running late but could make up time...well what does that mean...do i show up on time for a train that may or may not be on time? At a station with no building actually not even a bench to sit on? Grrr. It was 3 hours late. But over night did manage to make up time and was only 15 min late into KC. But did that connecting train wait 15 min? Hell no. The river runner always makes the chief wait (3 hours Monday) but couldnt be bothered to accomodate the 1 passenger to Independence, 2 to Sedalia, 1 to JC and 7 to StLouis...we had to pony express in a van. I dont want this hassel again. Frontier cost the same kc-denver and gets the in 2 hours not 20!

They've moved the waiting area to the west of its former location, the landing area is clean and well-tended. The landing is also a good place to watch the trains come and go, especially if you're a rail fan, because you're mere feet and yards away from multiple tracks.

Great way to travel to Hermann, Mo! Easy to access however parking is somewhat confusing. Once aboard the view is nice, the train is clean, and comfortable. Heads up, add the Amtrak app to your phone so you can stay up to date on the status of the train, expect schedule delays and plan accordingly.

This was my first time ever riding a train. I was excited to finally get the chance. This location does not have a building, so everyone was sitting in the heat and wasps. Riders were told by a volunteer that they haven't had anyone working there since 2013! The train was delayed 7 different times causing us to wait an extra hour in the heat. There was a parking lot, yet you had to have the volunteer let you in the space. I don't think I will leave out from Jefferson city again.
