What a hidden gem. Meal was great, staff was great, and no wait(on a Monday night) could be different on other days for sure, but I will definitely be back.

This is one of the places where the outside does not match the inside. It was so tasteful done inside. The calamari was thick slices, so it was a bit chewy but was good with the chili dip. Flank struck, and peppers were tender and full of a variety of flavors. Making each bite great. The friend rice was a thumbs down. No taste. Ble crab ragoons was by far the best tasting ragoons I've had in a very long time. You could actually taste the balance of cream cheese and blue crab meat.

Everything was good, portion, price, and atmosphere. Very clean.. Lunch time was not crowded. The server was great! On my next visit, it was a wait due to not having enough wait staff. However, the food was still good.

Went there for dinner before going to a ballgame, and I'm so glad we did. Not overpriced, portions were excellent, and service was amazing.

We don't dine out much due to the lack of quality eateries in Kinston, but we have dined at the Laughing Owl about once per month since our move to this town. Last night was a Wednesday but it was Valentine's Day, so we thought that that the staff would be prepared to serve us. I selected steamed veggies and rice with a garlic ginger sauce. It is simple food that requires little preparation. The veggies can be prepped for cooking in advance as can the sauce and the sauce should have tasted hot and sweet. I usually prepare mine in a wok with freshly grated ginger root and thinly sliced garlic. I add corn starch to thicken the sauce a little. The veggies and rice were acceptable. The sauce was tasteless and watery and served on the side in a bowl. I thought that it was soup. My dining partner ordered pasta with Alfredo sauce and shrimp. I asked her how her meal was and she said that it was disgusting. She invited me to sample it. I did so and she was right. We took it a go box to feed to a neighborhood stray dog that we call Shorty. Shorty ordinarily enjoys table scraps. I am guessing that he might reject this offering. I have no complaints about the wait staff. I was adequate although we had to request both salt and pepper for the table. I am done with this place.
