Our family have been coming here since the mid eighties. I have played soccer, flag football, and so many other games with friends and family here. I have watched my son play sports and play on the playgrounds. Was born and raised in ames but have lived in several other states and areas in iowa. I have watched this place become better and better over the years and now we enjoy this area the most during the summer to help beat the heat on my off days.

Just came here for the first time this last week! I LOVE the trail system along the South Skunk River. It has all the views including woods, open prairie, the river, etc. So good!

The playground next to the soccer fields is geared toward older, taller kids. Our 6 year old couldn't reach the monkey bars without a boost, but it is new, different and has fun features! Also, be sure to check out the Skunk River cascades, north of the softball fields.

Great set of trails. Found a fresh stick of butter under the porta potty. Used it in my pasta later. Came back the next day and there was another stick of butter. Someone is blessing me!

The trail along the river has eroded some. Still great for an afternoon walk.
